President Jeff Paton The Golf Club of Georgia
Jeff Paton is currently serving as both the Director of Golf and General Manager at The Golf Club of Georgia. For the last 20 years, Jeff has been working in the golf industry in North Metro Atlanta. Jeff is a long time and active member of the PGA. And, Jeff currently serves as Vice President of the GGCOA. Jeff began his golf career at Brookfield West Golf & Country Club in Roswell, as an Assistant Golf Professional. From there, he went to Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth also as an Assistant Golf Professional. Jeff later moved up to Director of Golf at The Golf Club of Georgia and at White Columns Golf Club. Jeff’s career steadily advanced to include General Manager & Partner roles at Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville. In 2003, Jeff returned to The Golf Club of Georgia. Jeff has extensive experience in the golf industry in private, upscale private, and upscale daily-fee facilities. He has held numerous golf association positions, including President, Georgia PGA, North Chapter. And, Jeff has earned a number of industry awards, including PGA Merchandiser of the Year, Georgia, 1997, 2002, Golf Shop Operations Top 100 Golf Shops 1996, 1997, 1998, Golf World Business, Top 100 Golf Shop, Private Top 25, 2005 Jeff has lived in Metro Atlanta for over 25 years. He and his family currently reside in Alpharetta.
Treasurer James Haslam HMS Golf Mgt
James Haslam oversees many aspects of the HMS Golf daily operations, while continuing to develop and maintain the strategic positioning of the HMS Golf franchise. James works directly with HMS Golf managers to constantly improve all aspects of daily operations. Additionally, James focuses on the identification of new business opportunities, the ongoing relationship with HMS Golf investors, the identification of new strategic relationships and the placement of HMS and HMS facilities in the competitive landscape. James currently serves as Treasurer for the Georgia Golf Course Owners’ Association. James graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University, where he was a Robert C. Byrd Scholar. Before joining HMS Golf, James worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department at Morgan Stanley in New York, NY. Past experience includes an analyst position with the Presidio Golf Real Estate Investment Trust.
Executive Director
Cindy Acree
Cindy Acree is the first Executive Director of the association, and has been serving in this role for 5+ years. She is responsible for all aspects of the organization, including marketing, legislative affairs, education, administration, and vendor relations. Ms. Acree has developed marketing programs for GGCOA members, created and reviewed vendor programs, and has hosted industry events for golf course owners and operators.
Prior to joining the Georgia Golf Course Owners Association, Cindy worked for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young consulting in its Telecommunications & Strategy practice. She spent most of her time at CGEY as a Project Manager for BellSouth’s Long Distance approval effort, the $25 billion company’s highest priority initiative. In addition, she spent a year at Equifax Card Solutions as a project manager and business analyst.
Before her management consulting career, Cindy held numerous management positions with Avis, Inc. Her roles included Zone Controller for the $125M Mid-Atlantic area, Airport Manager at Hartsfield Airport, and Atlanta District Manager. She then owned and operated her own Avis agency in Metro Atlanta.
Mrs. Acree received a BA from Dartmouth College. She then earned an MBA in Strategy from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Acree is an all-around avid athlete, and avid golfer. And, while at Dartmouth College, she played on the Varsity Basketball team, which won an Ivy League title, and earned an NCAA tournament appearance. She also served as the student representative to the Dartmouth College Athletic Council. Cindy remains active in Atlanta area sports.
